Diane
Diane Barnett is a seasoned veteran of the counseling and admissions worlds. She has worked with hundreds of students in her nearly 30-year career and prides herself on helping all those students find the best first school for them. She works with students from grade 6 through post-university to help develop a strategic admissions plan, whether that is for Boarding School, University, or postgraduate study.
Diane’s approach to working with students is one of positive support, half cheerleader, and half deadline enforcer. Developing relationships with her students, personally and academically, allows Diane to get to their best work, resulting in the best outcomes for them.
As she encourages her students to be curious and lifelong learners, Diane models that. Professional development and keeping up to date on the latest trends and practices in admissions is an integral part of her practice. Membership in NACAC- National Association of College Admissions Counselors, IECA- Independent Educational Consultants Association, and the ASCA- American School Counselor Association allows her opportunities for learning and growth.
When not working with students, Diane is the very proud momma to two college-age kids. She is a voracious reader (200 books per year), and in between books, she plays tennis, surfs, and loves the beach and travel. As a Purdue Boilermaker (BA and BS in Psychology and Community Health) and Duke Blue Devil (MS in Counseling- program completed at Capella University when moved to Italy), she is an avid college basketball fan! She is also proud to be a Blue Jay from Johns Hopkins (MS is School Counseling)!
